Touch Judge Courses

Courses

These are IRB touch judge courses adapted for USA Rugby.  Once completed, the earned TJ rating will be recognized in every IRB country. 

Every referee C3 and above must take all three courses (T1, T2, T3) to continue to be certified.

It is suggested every club have at least two individuals who have taken the T1 level course.
       

T1 - This is the entry level course.  It is designed for the club player who will be called upon to be a touch judge. It serves as the basis for the other courses
                Cost - $20
                Time - two hours
                Requirements - successful completion of course and a 33 item questionnaire (corrected and discussed on site), CIPP current

T2 - This is the introductory referee level course, and contains the information a referee should have on foul play, positioning and reporting of same
                Cost - $ 15 [over and above the $20 for the T1]
                Time - 1.5 hours
                Requirements - T1 course completion, R&L dues and CIPP current

 T3 - This completes the referee level course; it covers further assistance in the team of three format.  It also provides a number of different ways a trained TJ may assist the referee and how the referee decides to use which aspects of this help.  
                Cost - $15
                Time - 1.5 hours
                Requirements - T1, T2 course completion, R&L dues and CIPP current


Procedures

Instructors will send in a class list to the National Office, who will verify the student's CIPP and R&L status (required for T2 and T3) prior to issuing a certificate.
